Sep 19 2018
Alan Pearson was born in Sydney and completed his Degree in Business Studies (Accounting and a Business Law minor ) while working for Alcan Aluminium. After finishing his degree he left Sydney and backpacked through SE Asia en route to London and met his kiwi wife Helen.
Helen and Alan were married in Papakura in 1986, however he settled permanently in NZ in 1994 when he took on the role of Finance Manager at Tasman Pulp & Paper at Kawerau.
With two very young children, Kate and Andrew, they lived at Ohope Beach before Alan was promoted within Fletcher Challenge to the Finance Directors role with the Steel Division. This moved the family to Auckland in 1997.
In 2001 Alan was given the role of General Manager Pacific Steel Group within the newly formed Fletcher Building. Along with Helen they supported the kids through their passion of dancing for Kate and Football for Andrew with Alan actually coaching for several years at Eastern Suburbs.
After Fletchers, Alan joined Halls as Managing Director where he led this organisation through several growth spurts over his 10 years with the company. During this time he has seen all his family achieve degrees and the kids grow up and leave home.
His interests over this time have been varied. He has completed several corporate triathlons, flown solo, taken up fishing and chills out at his Bach in Cooks Beach. Both he and Helen enjoy travel and both have walked most of the great walks of NZ (Milford, Routeburn, Tongariro, Tasman, and the Sir Edmund Hillary).
